M鈥機HIGEENG鈥擲teven Fox, aka Odemin Arts, has a deep and personal connection with the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation (OCF). His mother, Mary Lou Fox ba was the driving force behind the founding of the organization in 1974 (along with James Debassige ba) with the goal to 鈥減reserve and revitalize the language, culture, arts, spirituality, and traditions of the Anishinaabe people of Mnidoo Mnising (Manitoulin Island) and surrounding areas.鈥

The exhibition of his works, 鈥楾his Knowledge Comes Through Me,鈥 therefore, is both a retrospective exhibition, but also a bit of a coming home.

The exhibition spans decades of Mr. Fox鈥檚 work鈥攆rom painting and design to paddles, vessels, wood, light, pigment and mixed media. Rather than presenting a linear progression, the exhibition traces the ideas, experiences and ways of seeing that continue to run through his practice.

Artist Steven Fox holds one of his creations, a favourite with his daughter Hanako at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation. Mr. Fox is the son of the OCF鈥檚 founder, Mary Lou Fox.
