WIIKWEMKOONG, ON鈥揟he Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) is investigating a serious incident in which two individuals were forcibly confined and assaulted. The investigation has resulted in two arrests and the search of three residences. On August 14, 2026 police responded to a residence on Daawema Road where a male and female were located with significant injuries. Both were transported to hospital and later released. "Violence of this nature has no place in our Territory,鈥 stated Chief of Police Ron Gignac. 鈥淭he Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service will not tolerate acts that threaten the safety and well-being of our residents. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and ensuring our community remains safe." As a result of the investigation, Eric COOPER, 28, and Serenity FOX, 20, both of Wiikwemkoong, were arrested on August 15, 2026.
COOPER and FOX were remanded into custody following a Show Cause Hearing, and are charged with:
- Forcible Confinement
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of an Imitation Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Aggravated Assault
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death
Search warrants were subsequently executed at residences on Daawema Road, Hills Trail and Mshaboos Lane with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be laid.
