Levack man wins Harbour Days Lions Club 50/50 draw

Laird Morbin of Levack won the $2,500 Gore Bay Western Manitoulin Lions Club 50/50 draw. The club sold all 1,000 tickets, raising funds for new endoscopes at Manitoulin Health Centre hospitals.

Levack man wins Harbour Days Lions Club 50/50 draw — And the winner is! Laird Morbin of Levack, left, is presented with a cheque for $2,500 from Larry Hunter, treasurer of the Gore Bay-Western Manitoulin Lions Club.

GORE BAY—The winner of a Gore Bay Western Manitoulin Lions Club 50/50 draw said he was surprised because he is not normally lucky in raffles.

“I was surprised to receive the call that I had won the draw,” said Laird Morbin, of Levack. “I can’t recall winning anything before, except a portable radio about 30 years ago. I don’t normally have any luck in winning things.”

Mr. Morbin said, “I’m not on Manitoulin Island a lot, but I have a friend who has property at the Elizabeth Bay turnoff. I hunt deer on the property each year.”
