Manitoulin Secondary School’s robotics team launched "Robofriends and the First Robotics Competition," their third book in a series teaching kids about STEM, teamwork, and the values of FIRST.
M’CHIGEENG—Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) Manitoulin Metal Robotics FRC 6865 is celebrating the release of their third book in the Robofriends series.
A launch for the new book, ‘Robofriends and the First Robotics Competition,’ took place at MSS this past Saturday, where those on hand had the chance to meet the authors. The book was written by students Amara Wilson-Zegil and illustrated by Robyn-Ashley McNaughton.
“A lot of people could relate to the story in the book,” said Ms. Wilson-Zegil. She explained that in the story the MSS rookie robot BEEthoven is feeling nervous because he is entering his first robotics competition. The story tells of his robot friends and a friendly mentor explain what the competition is all about. He learns that FIRST is about teamwork, kindness, community, and helping others, even your opponents. Robofriends and FIRST robotics competition is a fun introduction to robotics and the values that make FIRST special.
