M鈥機HIGEENG鈥擳he expression 鈥榩acked to the rafters鈥 can best be understood at a Manitoulin Secondary School graduation. Family, extended family, community family all came out in support of the MSS 2026 graduating class.
Honoured guests, faculty members and the graduating class were piped into the hall on Thursday evening, June 11th by Iain McGale. Taylor Goodfellow and Georgia Roy began the ceremony with O Canada, in English, French and Anishinaabemowin, and Principal David Wiwchar gave the Land Acknowledgement. Mel Cheng and Andrew Argall were the evening鈥檚 MCs and introduced each of the speakers.
Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief and 91成人导航 Trustee, Linda Debassige was first to address the graduates. 鈥淎bove all else, practice kindness,鈥 she told them. 鈥淜indness, integrity, honesty, will get you where you want to be. It will help you work with other people. Even though sometimes there are challenges, and there are times when we feel a little bit frustrated, it鈥檚 like those were always there. Practice kindness. It鈥檚 very simple. When we鈥檙e trying to do something, and we鈥檙e trying, we鈥檙e able to do a lot of great things together.鈥
