May 2, 1967 - August 13, 2026

On August 13, 2026 after battling COPD for the past few years, Mary Ellen at the age of 59, passed away peacefully on her own terms at her residence in Sudbury, Ontario surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born on May 2, 1967 on Manitoulin Island, Mary Ellen spent her life between Manitoulin and Brampton before making Sudbury her home for the past 25 years. A self-described warrior who navigated life’s many chapters, Mary Ellen found her greatest joy over the last five years in her cherished role as “Nana” to Lydia, Marceline and Atlas.  She also adored her faithful little dog of 10 years, TJ, who provided endless comfort and support. Though she preferred the comforts of her home to travelling and going places, she maintained connections with friends through daily conversations and social media. As per Mary Ellen’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service. Instead, her family asks, those who knew her, hold close a fond memory or shared moment, knowing she treasured her time with each of you.  Please keep her in your thoughts as she journeys to reunite with her loved ones who passed before her. Mary Ellen will be laid to rest at Hilly Grove Cemetery on Manitoulin Island, alongside her grandparents, mother and brother. Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North and Crystal Crematorium. She will be dearly missed. “We love you mom, nana, dear sister.”
