Mindemoya medical student Matthew Redmond received the 2025 Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Award for outstanding community leadership. Now in his final year at NOSM University, he plans to pursue a neurosurgery residency and practice in the North.
SUDBURY鈥擬atthew Redmond of Mindemoya, a medical student at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is among 16 exceptional medical students from across Canada selected and recognized by the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) for the 2025 CMHF Award at a ceremony held in Calgary on June 18. This award recognizes medical students who have demonstrated outstanding community leadership, superior communication skills and a strong commitment to advancing medical knowledge.
鈥淒octors go into medicine because they want to make the world a better place and if this year鈥檚 student awardees are any indication, Canada is in good hands,鈥 said Canadian Medical Association President Dr. Margot Burnell. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a privilege to recognize their passion and dedication and we look forward to their future successes for the benefit of their patients and communities.鈥
