BURPEE AND MILLS—At least a couple of residents (one year-round and another seasonal) are once again raising concerns with the Ocean Point Road (off Poplar Road) washing out. Township officials noted that the road is designated non-maintained seasonal road (meaning the township does not maintain the road).

“One car had to be towed on the Easter weekend,” stated Ed Wright, a year-round resident of Ocean Point Road. “There was too much water in the ditch after heavy rains (Friday, April 3) and the water washes out the road. This type of thing occurs at all times of the year when there is a thaw in the spring or winter, and any time there are heavy rainfalls. To get to our house we have to go across a township road.”

“One of my big concerns is whether an emergency vehicle would cross 200 feet of fast-moving water on the road to get to our road,” said Mr. Wright. He pointed out that over Easter weekend water depths reached 15 inches at one point.
