GORE BAY鈥擳he former deputy chief of the Gore Bay Fire Department has organized the first ever Manitoulin Island Volunteer Firefighter Challenge in June.
Duncan Sinclair, a retired deputy chief of the Gore Bay Volunteer Fire Department who now volunteers with Greater Sudbury Fire Services organized this new event for volunteer firefighters across the province.
鈥淟ast year, I was part of a group of (Gore Bay) firefighters that attended the North Shore Firefighter Challenge in Blind River, an event that was the brainchild of Ryan Pfaff. We (Gore Bay Fire Department) competed and did really well,鈥 said Mr. Sinclair. The Gore Bay firefighting team finished second in two events, missing out on first place by mere decimal points.
