It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Reginald James Edward Vanhorn, who passed away at home on June 25, 2026 at the age of 86 with his beloved wife, Patricia, by his side. Born in Tehkummah, May 19, 1940, on Manitoulin Island, Reg carried with him a deep connection to the land and a strong work ethic throughout his life. A skilled carpenter and dedicated farmer, he was known for his craftsmanship, reliability and the pride he took in his work. He built not only with his hands, but also with heart—creating a life centered on family and hard work. Reg shared a remarkable life with his cherished wife, Pat. What started as long-distance pen pals, grew into years of love, partnership and devotion. This July, they would have celebrated 62 wonderful years together—a testament to their enduring bond. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his dedication to his family, and the legacy of care and craftsmanship he leaves behind. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Reg is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat, his children, Shelly (Dan), Angela (Neil), grandchildren, Paige, Taylor and Makenna and great-grandson, Ryder along with extended family and friends. Reg was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ethel Vanhorn and his sister, Reta Vanhorn. Forever in our hearts.
