SAULT STE. MARIE—Carter George, who has strong family ties to Manitoulin Island, has been named as a finalist for the Ontario Hockey League goaltender of the year award for the second consecutive season.

Carter, who plays for the Soo Greyhounds, is one of five finalists for the Jim Rutherford Trophy, awarded annually to the leagues’ top goaltender, as voted on by the league’s general managers.

To reach the final ballot, nominees were required to receive at least 20 per cent support from the general managers within their conference.
