LITTLE CURRENT—Kagawong artist Sophie Anne Edwards has always been on the cutting edge of art, whether it is in founding the iconic Island art collective 4elements Living Arts that transformed the Kagawong River or, as in the case of her latest novel ‘A Mouth of Vowels,’ embracing experimental writing styles.

‘A Mouth of Vowels’ has been nominated for the prestigious Giller Prize and long-listed for the Omidawn Book Prize. The Giller Prize is awarded annually to the best Canadian novel, graphic novel, or short story collection published in English. The winner receives a cash prize of $100,000, while finalists receive $10,000. The award ceremony is a significant event in the Canadian literary calendar, celebrating the contributions of Canadian authors to the literary landscape.

“So, it was a real honour to be nominated,” said Ms. Edwards as she prepared to speak at an event held at the NEMI Public Library.
