MANITOULIN鈥擳he Manitoulin Special Olympics (MSO) team is going to be very well represented at the 2027 Ontario Special Olympic Winter Games.
An MSO curling rink and two snowshoe athletes have qualified for the provincials.
鈥淭his is great news. All of these athletes have worked very hard to qualify,鈥 stated Janet Anning, MSO co-coach of the curling team and coordinator of MSO.
The Manitoulin Island-Madahbee Curling team, which includes Tyler Madahbee, Triston Eadie, Dylan Danville, William Leclair and Charlotte Wright, was selected to compete after qualifying at a regional meet held in Sudbury earlier this year. This team will take part in the provincial curling competition at the Ontario Winter Games in North Bay in January 2027.
鈥淭yler鈥檚 team won all its games in Sault Ste. Marie (at the provincial qualifier),鈥 said Ms. Anning, who coached the MSO curling team along with Ellen Holroyd. 鈥淲e would have loved both our teams going to the provincials; our other team is still looking at attending and cheering on Tyler鈥檚 rink at the provincials.鈥
