Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association in partnership with Billings Township is requesting the public鈥檚 support in helping to raise funds to have immediate action undertaken in the Kagawong River before the fall spawning run takes place this fall. As has been reported, devastating floods earlier this spring devastated the Kagawong River and Bridal Veil Falls Trail.

According to Environment Canada, it鈥檚 looking to be a potentially soggy Pride Manitoulinweekend. Friday will see a daytime high of 23掳C with a 30 percent chance of showers, Temperatures will drop to a low of 19掳C overnight with the chance of showers remaining at 30 percent.
Saturday鈥檚 will have a 40 percent chance of showers with a daytime high of 23掳C, with temperatures dropping to 15掳C overnight and the chance of showers remaining at 40 percent.
The 40 percent chance of showers continues into the day on Sunday accompanied by a daytime high of 22掳C. Temperatures will drop to a low of 15掳C with cloudy periods overnight.

Manitoulin Transport founder Doug Smith has passed at the age of 93. The entrepreneur and philanthropist was a pillar of the Gore Bay, and the broader Manitoulin community, who was very active in sports in his youth and music.
The first wildfire reported on Manitoulin has been successfully extinguished, but Dr. Deborah McGregor has suggested that wildfires should not be seen as natural events and she advocates for people to adopt a simpler lifestyle.
