It is with profound sadness that the family of William John Maguire announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loved ones after a brief illness. John was the devoted husband of the late Joanne Maguire for over 41 years. He was the loving father of Shawn Maguire (Kelly) and the cherished stepfather of Tina Hall (Darren) and Peggy Geoffroy (Henry). He was a proud grandfather to Leah Maguire, Sarah Maguire (Ryan), Matthew Maguire, Adam Hall (Amanda), Jake Hall and Zoe Nayler, and a loving great-grandfather to his treasured great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his sister Joy Burmaster (Dave) and predeceased by his brother Ronald Maguire and sister Joan Sessoms (late Bill), all of whom held a special place in his heart. John will also be fondly remembered by Joanne鈥檚 siblings and his nieces and nephews. John鈥檚 craftsmanship will live on through the many woodworking projects and log homes he built as a carpenter and builder for nearly 50 years. He was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, stationed in Germany. He deeply loved his church family at Immanuel Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and support throughout his life. Although John was a man of few words, he will be remembered for his quick wit and generosity. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of North Shore Health Network for the compassionate care they provided to John, and to his church community for their prayers and support. A joint memorial service for John and Joanne will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Blind River on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Menard Funeral Home.
