Billings council hopes to see Old Mill Road reopen in some fashion
Billings council is exploring a temporary single-lane opening for flood-damaged Old Mill Road before winter after engineering delays pushed back full repairs.

KAGAWONG鈥擝illings township council is in favour of getting work done on the Old Mill Road in Kagawong in the near future so that the road can again be used by local residents affected by the closure caused by significant damage in April.
鈥淚f we go with a single lane, it would mean the work would start much earlier, dramatically reduce the cost and get the road back to being usable again by residents (prior to the winter season),鈥 said Councillor John Foster, at a council meeting last week.
In a staff report to council, it was reported that the combination of weather conditions on April 13 contributed to erosion and sliding of a section of Old Mill Road, and that the road in that location continues to be unstable and in need of repair. An engineering firm (EXP Services Ltd.) was hired and has been conducting a geotechnical study to determine the conditions in and below the roadbed. This information will provide the basis for the engineers to recommend and design repair solutions.
