MONTREAL—The federal Liberals are riding high these days, not only are the polls showing a commanding electoral lead for the party that only a year ago looked to be on its way to the wilderness, but thanks to floor-crossings and at least two likely wins in the three byelections held on Monday, they are looking at a majority. That, on top of a record number of delegates attending this past weekend’s convention in Montreal shows a party on the ascent—offering the question, has the party hit peak Liberal? Time will tell.

Former Liberal MP Marc Serré is now the chair of the Sudbury East-Manitoulin-Nickel Belt EDA (riding) and attended the convention.

“It was 100 percent,” said a jubilant Mr. Serre of the conference. “I was very happy to see that, not only did we have over 4,500 delegates attending the convention, the most ever on record, but we also had 1,700 youth delegates. They brought a lot of energy.”
