WHITEFISH FALLS—The 47th La Cloche Art Show, one of Northern Ontario’s most prestigious art exhibitions and sales, takes place each year in late June, early July at the Whitefish Falls Community Centre. The show’s organizers have announced this year’s Artist of Distinction (featured artist) for the 2026 La Cloche Art Show will be Robert Potvin. 

Mr. Potvin is self-taught artist based in Whitefish (located just west of Sudbury and distinct from Whitefish Falls). The Distinguished Artist primarily works in acrylic on board and is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists. He is also an award-winning artist and was born in the town of Grimsby.

Although he works primarily in acrylic on board, he has been known to dabble in pen and ink and other media. He has painted and been involved with art all his life, combining a love of history, antiques and the outdoors—which can be seen in his work. But that work not limited to those subjects. He harnesses vanishing ways of life provide as a great source of inspiration.
