OPP Golden Helmets will visit Wiikwemkoong this June
WIIKWEMKOONG—The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) has announced that The Golden Helmets Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Motorcycle Precision Team will be coming to Wiikwemkoong in June.
“The Golden Helmets precision motorcycle team will be here in Wiikwemkoong June 4 to put on a demonstration and show, displaying their skills and talent,” stated Tammy Duffy, inspector with the WTPS. “Both the OPP and the Golden Helmets requested the event be in memory of the late Manitoulin OPP Constable Marc Hovingh 8340.”
Inspector Duffy explained, “Jackie White (social media manager with WTPS) spearheaded getting the Golden Helmets team here. She submitted an official request in late fall or winter. This will be an opportunity for community members and students of Wiikwemkoong and Assiginack Public School (Manitowaning) (which were invited to the event) to talk to members of the Golden Helmets team, take photos of the team members and their motorbikes.
