The Wiki Rockets won gold at the Under 21 National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championships in Toronto, edging One Nation Selects 3-2 to cap an undefeated tournament run.

TORONTO—They struck gold! Head coach Hiawatha Osawamick and her 18-year-old daughter Aaliyah are part of the Wiki Rockets team that took home gold medals from this past weekend’s Under 21 National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championships that were held at Westwood Arena in Toronto.

Wiki edged the One Nation Selects by a narrow 3-2 score in the title tilt of the women’s division. Wiki won all five of its game in the tournament, including the championship game. The 14 players on the Wiki roster are primarily from Ontario.

“The competition was really good,” Coach Osawamick relayed to The Manitoulin Expositor. “There was a lot of excitement and a great atmosphere with players from Ontario and all across Canada at the tournament. A lot of fans from all over were at the games.”
