The Providence Bay and Spring Bay Lions Club donated $500 to help the Manitoulin District Cenotaph Committee replace aging flagpoles at the Spring Bay cenotaph.
SPRING BAY鈥擳he Manitoulin District Cenotaph Committee (MDCC) has received a significant boost in its fundraising campaign from the Providence Bay and Spring Bay Lions Club to replace three flagpoles at the Merchants Marine Memorial at the Island Cenotaph located at Monument Corner in Spring Bay.
Lions Marlene Moore and Annette Murphy presented a cheque in the amount of $500 to Jim Corrigan, a member of MDCC, last Thursday in front of the Merchant Marines Memorial.
鈥淧roud to share that the Providence Bay and Spring Bay Lions Club have donated $500 to the Manitoulin District Cenotaph Committee fundraising campaign. The committee is raising funds to replace the flagpole behind the Merchant Marine Memorial with three new 35-foot poles. The current flagpole has stood since 1995, but the mechanism is failing and the flags keep wrapping around the arms. Three poles are needed so the Canadian, Ontario and 91成人导航 flags can continue flying year-round,鈥 a post on the Lions Facebook post stated.
